Introduction
Historic Royal Palaces is excited to present, Performing for the King - the making of a court masque, a unique family-friendly exhibition at the Banqueting House in Whitehall.
Masques were performed for royalty at the Banqueting House in the seventeenth century but this summer everyone is invited to take part. The festivities begin on 19 July and will run until 1 September 2013.
It is 1632 and Inigo Jones is preparing to put on a masque. His star performer is none other than Queen Henrietta Maria who, along with her ladies, will aim to delight His Majesty King Charles I.
