Groups at Banqueting House

Bring your groups to visit all that remains of the orginal Whitehall Palace, the Banqueting House.  Take advantage of group rates and combine a visit to this fascinating part of London with many other attractions located nearby.

Please note - extraordinary closure dates 9-18 July 2013 and 2-8 September 2013 inclusive.  If you are a royal pass holder, please arrange to visit the Banqueting House outside of these dates.

New! Execution story

Arguably the most significant moment of English royal history took place at the Palace of Whitehall in 1649, the execution of King Charles I. Discover the events leading up to this moment in the very place where history happened.

Daily from 19 July - 01 September 2013
Performing for the King

Join live interpreters to discover the intricacies of the court masque taking place within the theatrical sets, including dressing for the masque, learning the dance steps, creating designs for scenery and costumes.  At weekends additional entertainment will be provided by four Stuart musicians. 

Guaranteed opening hours for groups.
The Banqueting House will guarantee admission for groups from 10.00hrs - 13.00hrs Monday - Sunday, closed Bank Holidays.  There is no requirement to pre-book but if you prefer to simply contact 0844 482 7770 or +20 3166 6000 from overseas.  So why not include a visit to this revolutionary building designed in Palladian style by Inigo Jones and completed for James I in 1622 for your group?   



Creating an itinerary in the area
Combine a trip to the opulent attraction with other art galleries such as The National Portrait Gallery, the National Gallery and the Courthauld Institute all just a few minutes away.   Directly opposite the Banqueting House is Horseguards Parade.  Here your group can see the Changing of the Guard at 11am and 4pm and visit the Household Cavalry Museum.  And of course, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and the Churchill War Rooms are all within walking distance.   


Group admission – the easy way!

When you arrive you'll find the ticket desk is directly in front of you as you enter the Banqueting House. Coach drivers and Blue Badge Guides bringing a group are admitted free.

Audio guides

Audio guides are included in the price of admission and are available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Japanese.  Please note that during the summer activities - Performing for the King - the audio guides will not be available for use.

Getting here and coach parking

Metered coach bays can be found along the Victoria Embankment. Coaches may set down and pick up groups in Whitehall if we are notified of the coach registration and driver’s name at least 24 hours in advance of your visit.

The Banqueting House lies within the Congestion Charging Zone.

Food and Souvenir shopping

Groups will find the Banqueting House shop situated on the stairwell leading to the state room and its magnificent ceiling.

It offers an array of London gifts, guidebooks, postcards and specially designed products, including an exquisite range of bone china depicting Rubens’s famous painted ceiling.
