Hampton Court 500
Henry VIII character actor and staff hold up balloons to celebrate the 500 year anniversary

For 500 years Hampton Court has majestically stood by the banks of the River Thames! Commenced by Cardinal Wolsey to entertain his pleasure seeking King, Henry VIII, and 10 years later gifted to him.

The palace has been witness to two revolutions, three royal honeymoons, and the birth of Henry's long awaited son Edward, and been pivotal to many more historic events.

Daily from Easter 2015 we will be bringing those 500 years to life with 'history where it happened' including Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, Charles I and Oliver Cromwell, Charles II and his mistresses, as well as the Georges and Victoria.

BBC Good Food Festival - 29 - 31 August
