Community and groups learning event at Hampton Court Palace

We offer a range of talks, workshops, training and projects for our local communities, helping participants gain a sense of belonging and ownership of our palaces and helping us stay connected to our audiences and locality.

We are currently developing our new programme of talks and workshops for community and groups. Launching at Kensington Palace this September, we have plans afoot for Hampton Court Palace in 2015. We would like your input into the programme's development - please contact us to get involved or find out more on

Citizenship ceremonies

In 2014, as we celebrate the 300th anniversary of King George I’s accession to the throne, we are working in partnership with registrar offices in Tower Hamlets, Richmond, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster, to bring 300 people together to share a life changing moment as they became British citizens in our palaces!

We are recording and sharing modern tales of ‘Becoming British’ from new citizens. These will be added to the continuing story of our palaces to help others learn about the transformative journey of citizenship.

Bedtime stories and Community Bed, 2013

Hampton Court has the largest collection of state beds in the country. These magnificent beds and their stories inspired a community group project in which participants of all ages created their very own ‘Community Bed’ for display in the palace during the ‘Secrets of the Royal Bedchamber’ exhibition. Artist Sofie Layton worked with participants to screen-print, gild, emboss and embroider the intricate details of this beautiful bed.
