Jubilee tablecloths

We made some special tablecloths with Diamond Jubilee images.
Tablecloth

Community groups working with an artist

When it was decided that Hampton Court would mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II with a huge, free Garden Party, we thought that it would be nice for some of the tables to be covered with specially made tablecloths. We contacted the artist Emma Rios who created printing screens with Jubilee images which she had illustrated on them. Community groups from the local area around Hampton Court werre then invited to take part in printing workshops where they worked together to make over 100 lovely tablecloths. After these sessions, some of Hampton Court's volunteers helped finish off the cloths and ironed each and every one!

On the 2nd of June all of the tablecloths were put out for people to enjoy as they ate their picnics in the gardens of the palace.

Find out about the only other Diamond Jubilee

The only other British monarch to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee was Queen Victoria in 1897. There were huge celebrations to mark this momentous occasion. You can find out more about Victoria's Diamond Jubilee here.
