Our programme

Projects and activities from Hampton Court Palace's community programmes
Tudor Kitchen

What we offer

Over the last few years thousands of people in the local community have been involved with projects and events inspired by Hampton Court Palace. Each year we organise a range of projects which involve working with people of all ages, as well as events which are either open to the public or for invited community groups. Our work focuses on engaging the boroughs nearest to our palaces.

If you are interested in your community group working with Hampton Court Palace, e-mail outreachandcommunity@hrp.org.uk, although we unfortunately can’t guarantee to work with every group, owing to time, resources and strategic priorities – but please feel free to get in touch anyway!

Visitor access

Drawn from the local community, members of the Historic Royal Palaces Access Forum help improve the experience at the palace for people with disabilities.

They regularly contribute to the planning of exhibitions and are consulted on a range of other matters both at Hampton Court Palace and Kew Palace.

The forum engages in a dialogue with project managers from the outset, making access issues integral to the process.

You can find out about visitor access, and download the Hampton Court Access Guide here.

Off-site sessions for adults

We offer some free off-site sessions for adult community groups in the boroughs close to Hampton Court Palace, including illustrated talks and a practical workshop. Talks

Henry VIII and his daily life
Many people may be familiar with some of the great events of Henry VIII’s life – but what would an ordinary day be like at Hampton Court? What would the king get up to around his beautiful home? Find out in a 45 minute illustrated talk.

Henry and his women
From his grandmother and mother to his sisters and his wives, who were the women who shaped Henry VIII’s life? Discover their stories in a 45 minute illustrated talk.

Out with the old: a new baroque palace
At the end of the 17th century, William III and Mary II decided to knock down large chunks of Hampton Court in order to build a stunning new palace in the latest baroque style. They never finished their new palace, meaning that today Hampton Court is half Tudor, and half baroque. Learn about what makes Hampton Court such a fine example of this over-the-top style of architecture and interior design, in a 45 minute illustrated talk.
