Lively and interactive sessions for 5 to 7 year olds delivered by expert costumed interpreters and supporting a range of subjects across the National Curriculum.

All sessions are designed for classes up to 35 children.

A palace fit for a king

History Unit 2

Touring the King’s State Apartments, pupils will see how the buildings were constructed and discover what life was like at the court of William III. This session highlights common features of homes and what could be found inside the palace in the past.

Students will also explore the state apartments’ purposes, as well as how it would feel to be part of the royal court as they take on the role of courtiers seeking an audience with King William and Queen Mary.

My house is bigger than your house
History Unit 2

In this session students will develop literacy skills as they work with a creative writing specialist to create their own class book of writing. They will also investigate what life in the palace was like in the past. Using role play, pupils will become English princes and princesses at court and investigate the Tudor buildings.

Traditional toys
History Unit 1

This session compares today’s toys with those from history and introduces pupils to the concepts of 'old' and 'new'. Using replica objects, pupils will examine and describe toys and games from the past, and learn about the different materials used in their manufacture. As part of the session, pupils will have the opportunity of discovery learning through playing traditional games.

Tudor tales
History Unit 2

A costumed story-teller will lead students into the depths of the Tudor palace to investigate life at the court of Henry VIII. Were the terrible tales of Henry true? What was it like to work for him? Pupils will find out as they are guided through the byways of the palace, from the cellars where Henry gambled with his servants to the hall where he danced with his wives.
