Royal School of Needlework 3

The Royal School of Needlework

The Royal School of Needlework is the international centre for teaching, practicing and promoting hand embroidery across a wide range of techniques.

We offer hand embroidery courses for all levels and welcome students from all over the world. Our day classes run throughout the year and take place at weekends and during the school holidays. If you are a 'beginner', why not try one of our introduction courses and learn from the experts in our small, friendly classes.

If you would like to learn hand embroidery to a professional standard for your own development or as a career option, take a look at our Certificate or Diploma courses which have flexible attendance options throughout the week. We also have a Degree programme validated by the University for the Creative Arts.

You can also visit the RSN by attending one of our tours (places must be booked in advance) or by visiting the RSN shop.

Further information can be found on the Royal School of Needlework's website

Florilegium

The Hampton Court Palace Florilegium Society members meet one day per month at the palace to paint, research plant material and enjoy a variety of speakers. Members are able to explore the beautiful gardens and glasshouses and they have the help and co-operation of the Head Gardener and his team in their research of the plants.

Full Members submit at least one painting per annum to be considered for inclusion in the Hampton Court Palace Florilegium Archive. The works are judged by a panel on their botanical accuracy and standard of painting. Chosen works are donated by the individual Member to Hampton Court Palace for the Archive.

A Member who has had three paintings accepted becomes a Fellow of the Hampton Court Palace Florilegium Society.

The Society takes part in several of the annual events held at Hampton Court Palace and often paintings on display are for sale.
