A little history of the space…
Early in the morning of 20 June 1837 Princess Victoria was awakened in her bedroom on the first floor of Kensington Palace with news that her uncle King William IV had died and that she was now Queen.
At half past eleven Queen Victoria held her first privy council meeting in this room known as the Red Saloon. She recorded in her journal afterwards: ‘I went in of course quite alone.’
