A little history of the space…
The White Tower is the oldest medieval building at the Tower of London. It was built to impress, but was also equipped as a fortress and a residence, providing accommodation for the sovereign as well as for some of his more unfortunate 'guests'.

It was from this first floor of the White Tower that Ranulf Flambard, Bishop of Durham and the Tower’s first prisoner, affected a daring escape using a rope secreted in a vat of wine.

The King of France and his son were also lodged here in 1358 during the Hundred Years’ War.

'Henry VIII: Dressed to kill' - a stunning new exhibition
In April 2009, for the first time in modern history, Historic Royal Palaces and the Royal Armouries will bring together the armour and weapons of Henry VIII to mark the 500th anniversary of Henry's accession to the English throne.

Host your event in the White Tower during ‘Henry VIII: Dressed to kill’ and your delegates will get the chance to marvel at the world’s greatest collection of objects personally owned by Henry and learn how arms and armour were central to the King's existence.

The Tower event team will be hosting a variety of special tours and opportunities for guests to experience this unique exhibition from Easter 2009.
  • Have ‘Breakfast with Henry’ and invite your guests to partake in a private viewing and tour of the White Tower to see this wonderful collection, before the crowds arrive
  • Come and have a ‘Drink with Henry’ and host a drinks reception, where early monarchs held court and uncover the stories hidden in the famous paintings of the Field of the Cloth of Gold
  • Dine in the King’s Great Hall and wonder at the thought of those who have dined here before you through the centuries
