Royal Women – Historical Association CPD events

What was it really like to be a queen? What was the reaction to a female monarch?  How has monarchy changed? What private events shaped the lives of these women?

The Historical Association and Historic Royal Palaces have joined forces to offer a fantastic CPD opportunity in line with the Queen’s diamond jubilee. Two CPD events around the theme of Royal Women will chart the private histories of queens of the past from within the walls of their palaces.

Event 1 Royal Women: Anne, Mary and Victoria

Kensington Palace, Clore Learning Centre, May 29th 2012 5-8pm

Come along and find out more about the nature and perception of female rule, the different trials and tribulations facing these monarchs, and how their personal, private stories differed from their public lives. Including free entry to Kensington Palace’s new display Victoria Revealed exploring the life of Queen Victoria in her own words.

Event 2 Royal Women: Mary and Elizabeth

Hampton Court Palace, June 14th 2012 4.30-8pm

What kind of queens were Mary I and Elizabeth I? Delve deeper into England’s first female monarchs and find out how their private pain compared to their public lives. Including a free tour of Hampton Court Palace.
