Using the portraits of court characters on the King’s Stairs as their cast, students become story detectives as they journey through the palace picking up inspiration for completing the mystery. These sessions develop literacy, speaking and listening skills as well as encouraging the use of imaginative language and vocabulary.

New Patterns at the palace

Explore the wealth of patterns on display at Kensington! The palace is brimming with wallpapers, painted ceilings, carvings and fabrics to inspire young artists. Students will go on a pattern treasure hunt and then come back to the classroom to create their own wallpaper prints using block printing methods. The session will be led by artist Natalie Ryde, our palace Artist in Residence in 2011. This session supports skills of investigating and making art, as well as historical enquiry and interpretation.
