Why see it?
If you want to find out more about Kew Palace and royal life there in the 18th century, the people’s library is an excellent place to start.
There is an interactive computer video which tells you about the fabric of the house, about its refurbishment throughout the ages and about the people who have successively been its occupants.
There are plans of how the royal estates at Kew became the Royal Botanic Gardens. There are also folders containing 18th and early 19th century accounts for the house and excerpts from the diaries of men and women acquainted with George III and his family, as well as information on the family itself.
There is also a specialist collection of books on the subject of royal Kew.
