In May students from Prendergast-Ladywell Fields College, Lewisham, had the opportunity to engage with their local World Heritage Site - the Tower of London - in a unique way as they were invited to create films that responded to the question;

“Who are we and what does our World Heritage Site mean to us?”

Armed with the themes of world heritage and identity, a video camera and their own creativity, students wrote, filmed, and edited movies that represented their personal responses to the Tower of London.  By the end of the week students understood that the Tower of London wasn't "just some old building" but has connections to many significant events in our national history which, in turn, opened their eyes to the universal cultural value of their very own World Heritage Site.

The Tower of London will be championed by fifteen young people as part of the 2012 UNESCO Youth Summit, taking place at the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site, 27th - 29th June.

Now you can watch how being immersed in such an important World Historic Site like the Tower of London impacts the students who visit and learn about it.
