A new chapter in the story of spectacular events at Historic Royal Palaces

Press release

Over hundreds of years, the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace and Kew Palace have provided the backdrop to glittering banquets, fabulous celebrations and splendid royal weddings. Today a newly-launched suite of brochures inspires clients looking for unique venues for their own prestigious events, giving a new flavour of each palace plus information about Weddings and Meetings and Conferences. Each of the eight new brochures features stunning photography and detailed information about capacity and locations.

Each palace has its own personality, style and wealth of stories that will transform any occasion from the impressive to the unforgettable. Where else but in one of the five palaces could your guests be entertained by a Yeoman Warder, or enjoy a private guided tour of sumptuous state apartments, or dine where Her Majesty The Queen enjoyed her 80th birthday party in 2006?

The Tower of London – ancient, powerful, intriguing
For over 900 years the Tower of London has dominated the City of London, and remains one of the capital’s most prominent landmarks and a world-famous British icon. With everything from state-of-the-art conferencing facilities to unique spaces for intimate dinners, impress your guests with this ancient setting and entertain them pre-dinner with a private view of the Crown Jewels, or a special Yeoman Warder Tour.

Hampton Court Palace – romantic, flamboyant, majestic
The flamboyant Henry VIII is most associated with this majestic palace, which he extended and developed in grand style after acquiring it from Cardinal Wolsey in the 1520s. Today there is a stunning selection of rooms offering a fascinating spectrum of styles and sizes for all occasions.

Banqueting House – dramatic, revolutionary, exuberant
Intended for the splendour and exuberance of court masques, the Banqueting House is probably most famous for one real life drama: the execution of Charles I which took place here in 1649. A flexible venue, over 375 guests can dine in comfort at the Banqueting House, or enjoy a fashion show, cocktail reception or concert. Today the Undercroft can be used as a grand reception area for pre-dinner drinks or as an intimate venue in its own right.

Kensington Palace – feminine, stylish and fashionable
The feminine influence of generations of royal women have shaped this stylish palace and elegant gardens. Today the palace offers a unique selection of rooms available for formal dinners, receptions and weddings, ranging from the opulent Red Saloon, rich and luxurious, to the airy elegance of the famous Orangery.

Kew Palace – intimate, domestic and intense
This most intimate of the five royal palaces has been extensively conserved over the past ten years and the lower floors re-created as they would have looked between 1818 and 1901, when the palace was used by George III and members of his family. During the summer months (April to September) George III’s Dining Room is available for intimate dinner parties of up to 24 seated guests or 40 for receptions in the Queen’s Garden.

Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace and Kew Palace.  We help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built.

We receive no funding from the Government or the Crown, so we depend on the support of our visitors, members, donors, volunteers and sponsors.

These palaces are owned by The Queen on behalf of the nation, and we manage them for the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.

We believe in four principles.

Guardianship: giving these palaces a future as long and valuable as their past.
Discovery: encouraging people to make links with their own lives and today’s world.
Showmanship: doing everything with panache.
Independence: having our own point of view and finding new ways to do our work.
