See the Tower of London at Twilight!

Tower Twilight tours on Wednesdays this Winter*

Inside the Tower at night

Press release

When the sun has set over London this winter and everything is quiet, dare to step inside the Tower of London and discover the tales of this darkened medieval fortress in an exclusive twilight tour away from the crowds.

Every Wednesday from 7 November until 12 December 2007 and every Wednesday in February 2008, Yeoman Warders (Beefeaters) will guide you on an exclusive tour dazzling you with the tales and legends that make the Tower so famous.

With unique after-hours access, you will be able to immerse yourself in all the stories, gossip and secrets the Tower has to offer whilst the night’s shadows close in around you.  With a trusty Beefeater as your guide, you will take in some of the Tower’s most famous sites including the Medieval Palace, Bloody Tower, Traitors Gate and the Scaffold Site where two Queens of England lost their heads.

Don’t miss your chance to step inside the world’s most famous fortress and see the Tower in a new light!

Twilight Tours will run 7, 14, 21 and 28 November, 5 and 12 December 2007, and 6, 13, 20 and 27 February 2008.  Tours start at 19:00 at the Tower of London Welcome Centre on Tower Hill where your Yeoman Warder guide will meet you, and finish at 20:30.  Tickets cost £25.00 per person and are available now.

For advance tickets, click here to book online or call 0844 482 7795 or go to the Welcome Centre and the Group Tickets Office on Tower Hill in person.  The Tour does not include entry to the Crown Jewels or White Tower.  To run a tour, there must be a minimum 12 attendees, and there will be a maximum of 50.

Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace and Kew Palace.  We help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built.

We receive no funding from the Government or the Crown, so we depend on the support of our visitors, members, donors, volunteers and sponsors. The palaces are owned by the Queen on behalf of the nation, and we manage them for the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.

We believe in four principles.  Guardianship: giving these palaces a future as long and valuable as their past. Discovery: encouraging people to make links with their own lives and today’s world.  Showmanship: doing everything with panache. Independence: having our own point of view and finding new ways to do our work.
