The Tower of London confirmed last week that, for the first time, it is appointing a female Yeoman Warder (Beefeater).

First Female Yeoman Warder (Beefeater) is officially unveiled

Media are invited to attend a photo call at the Tower of London at 08:00h on Thursday 11 January to see Moira Cameron, first female Yeoman Warder (Beefeater) officially unveiled. She will be accompanied by two of her new colleagues in their Beefeater uniforms. Media should arrive at 08:00h at the Tower of London, and the photo call will begin inside the Tower at 08:15h prompt. The photo call will end at 08:45h.

The Tower of London confirmed last week that, for the first time, it is appointing a female Yeoman Warder (Beefeater). The successful candidate is officially announced today as Moira Cameron, Warrant Officer Class 2. At the photo call she will be dressed in her current Number Two (Army) dress. Moira, 42, is currently serving in HQ 145 (HC) Brigade and will join her new colleagues as Yeoman Warder Cameron at the Tower of London in summer 2007.

Notes to editors

Please arrive at the Pass Office, bottom of Tower Hill, at
08:00h to meet the Press Office and collect a security pass. The photo call will take place between 08:15h and 08:45h.

We will not be able to accommodate live broadcasts from the Tower.

No parking will be provided at the Tower. The nearest car parking is at the NCP car park on Lower Thames Street. The Tower is easily accessible via public transport, via Tower Hill tube station or via Docklands Light Railway and Fenchurch Street train stations.
