Ghost Tours

Embark on a ghost tour at Hampton Court Palace this winter and hear chilling stories

A ghost tour

Press release

When the visitors have left, and the shadows lengthened, the stage is set for some sombre and dark stories. Only after hours will the palace Warders lead you to some of the places where mysterious tales reveal themselves. For over 170 years, they have been in a unique position to collect ghostly stories from visitors and staff alike which they will share with you on this unique tour.

Embodying over 500 years of dramatic and sometime violent history, it is unsurprising Hampton Court Palace is often considered to be one of the most haunted buildings in Britain, acquiring worldwide acclaim for the stories kept centuries long within its ancient walls until now…

Some say that on the Silver Stick Staircase a silent white figure of Jane Seymour holding a lighted taper has glided into Clock Court in the direction of the rooms her son Edward occupied

Hear about the reported screams of Catherine Howard in the Haunted Gallery as she  is dragged back to her incarceration and eventual doom

See for yourself the doors which CCTV showed in 2003 to be closed by a tall strange figure, now known infamously worldwide as “Skeletor”!

If these walls could talk they could tell us the truth about these tales. The only way for you to find out for yourself is to come here and let them talk to you!

Historic Royal Palaces

Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace and Kew Palace.  We help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built.

We receive no funding from the Government or the Crown, so we depend on the support of our visitors, members, donors, volunteers and sponsors.

These palaces are owned by The Queen on behalf of the nation, and we manage them for the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.

We believe in four principles.  Guardianship: giving these palaces a future as long and valuable as their past. Discovery: encouraging people to make links with their own lives and today’s world.  Showmanship: doing everything with panache. Independence: having our own point of view and finding new ways to do our work.
