Employment tribunal - Keith Cima

We are pleased the employment tribunal hearing has concluded that Mr Cima was fairly dismissed and that Historic Royal Palaces was justified in taking the action that it did, and that Mr Cima’s whistle blowing allegations were without foundation.

We would also like to take this opportunity to respond to some matters raised in Mr Cima’s witness statements and recently reported by the media in relation to the tribunal hearing.

Historic Royal Palaces does not tolerate bullying or harassment on any level of any members of staff. Such behaviour has absolutely no place in our organisation and we can confirm that allegations of this nature are very rare indeed. All allegations of bullying and harassment are taken extremely seriously and we have a robust policy to investigate and take appropriate action in response to any such reports.

We are disappointed that these proceedings have included several lurid but unsubstantiated allegations about Yeoman Warders, which have unfairly harmed the reputation of the Yeoman Body. Reporting of some of these claims has sought to sensationalise the hearing, even though none of these issues relate to Mr Cima’s claim, without regard for those directly affected by these reports or their families. Historic Royal Palaces continues to place absolute faith in the loyalty and integrity of the Yeoman Body and their commitment to creating an unparalleled visitor experience at the Tower of London.

Lord Dannatt, Constable of the Tower of London said:

“I have every confidence in the integrity and standards of conduct of all the Yeoman Warders at HM Tower of London. They are all loyal servants of the Crown having over 700 years service between them as former Warrant Officers or Non Commissioned Officers in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, the Army and the Royal Air Force. Like their colleagues on the front line today, they have served their Queen and Country with courage, determination, professionalism and good humour. As Yeoman Warders now, these same remarkable people remain equally dedicated to serving Historic Royal Palaces and the visiting general public from around the world. As Constable I am honoured to serve alongside them all. "

This has been a challenging time for both Historic Royal Palaces and Mr Cima; however, we wish him well for the future.
