Press Release

Historic Royal Palaces goes under the hammer!

Exploring hidden nooks and crannies at the Tower of London or walking the high life on Hampton Court Palace roof, these are just two of the ‘TopLots’ offered by Historic Royal Palaces on ebay (www.ebay.co.uk/toplots) over the next month.

Members of the public are being invited to bid on these ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunities where they could find themselves on a private tour of the Crown Jewels or firing a medieval siege engine in the Tower of London moat with TV presenter Dan Snow.

For a truly unique present, perhaps a special anniversary or just for the avid enthusiast these ‘TopLots’ promise to be an amazing experience for the highest bidders in the online auction.

Bids open for the first lot on Monday 19 May with the other lots appearing over the next month.  Lots include:

  • Personal tour of the Crown Jewels - bidding starts 19 May
  • Visiting hidden spaces at the Tower of London - bidding starts 22 May
  • Roof top tour of Hampton Court Palace - bidding starts 22 May
  • Personal tour of Kew Palace - bidding starts 1 June
  • Attack the Tower of London with Dan Snow - bidding starts 4 June
  • Personal tour of the Royal Ceremonial dress collection - bidding starts 5 June

Funds raised from these auctions will go towards the conservation of the five unique historic buildings we care for: the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace,  Kew Palace,  Kensington Palace and Banqueting House.

We receive no funding from the Government or the Crown, so we depend on the support of our visitors, members, donors, volunteers and sponsors.

For more information on how to bid on these and other lots please visit Historic Royal Palaces website www.hrp.org.uk

The ‘TopLots’ auction (www.ebay.co.uk/toplots) runs from 15 May - 15 June, with each lot ‘live’ for 10 days within that period.

Historic Royal Palaces
Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace and Kew Palace.  We help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built.
These palaces are owned by The Queen on behalf of the nation, and we manage them for the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.

We believe in four principles.  Guardianship: giving these palaces a future as long and valuable as their past. Discovery: encouraging people to make links with their own lives and today’s world.  Showmanship: doing everything with panache. Independence: having our own point of view and finding new ways to do our work.
