Few people have had an impact on fashion and style in the same way as Diana, Princess of Wales.
As such a public figure, the princess’s dress style was always closely scrutinised by the press and public. As a young princess her clothes were romantic and demure but as her confidence grew her style developed into that of an international celebrity – glamorous, elegant and completely her own.
Opening Saturday 19 April, Diana fashion & style will display a collection of the Princess’ stunning couture dresses that made her a fashion icon the world over.
The fashion world takes itself so seriously, but I saw Diana as above all that
- Catherine Walker
With a unique collection of dresses, including seven recently loaned and never before displayed at Kensington Palace, the exhibition charts the early years of Diana’s style from the 1983 silk evening dress by Donald Campbell to her later years as full blown fashion and style icon demonstrated by the sleek black Gianni Versace cocktail dress she wore in 1995.
She was like a fairytale princess
- Zandra Rhodes
The exhibition includes creations by some of Diana’s favourite designers, including Catherine Walker, David and Elizabeth Emanuel and Victor Edelstein, and demonstrates her contributions to the world of fashion.
