Collecting the world
Kensington Palace
19-27 February
11.00-16.00

Make your own cabinet of curiosities and decorate an enchanted mask taking inspiration from our weird and wonderful collection displayed in Kensington Palaces Enchanted Palace experience.

During the February half-term we'll be running Family Learning activities exploring the theme of collecting at the palace with free drop in activities taking place throughout the day. Children will be able to make and decorate their own paper cabinets of curiosities as well as help us add to a life-sized cabinet with their own weird and wonderful specimens. They'll also be a trail to discover which parts of the world objects in the palace's collection come from.

Afterwards explore the Enchanted Palace - a unique multisensory exhibition combining fashion, live performance, music, film and dazzling spectacle to show the palace in a magical light. Intriguing and mysterious characters lead visitors on a journey through the spellbound palace to discover its tales of love and hate, surprise and sadness, secrets and jealousy. This is a secret Kensington Palace – one you’ve never seen before!

Recommended for children aged 5-13 it’s the perfect way to entertain the kids this half term.

Historic Royal Palaces

Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace and Kew Palace.  We help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built.

We receive no funding from the Government or the Crown, so we depend on the support of our visitors, members, donors, volunteers and sponsors. These palaces are owned by The Queen on behalf of the nation, and we manage them for the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.

We believe in four principles.  Guardianship: giving these palaces a future as long and valuable as their past. Discovery: encouraging people to make links with their own lives and today’s world.  Showmanship: doing everything with panache. Independence: having our own point of view and finding new ways to do our work.
