Palace Explorers

Children with iPads, QR codes and a man in a green suit at the Tower of London! It’s the start of Palace Explorers at the Tower! And during the next six months both Education and Outreach & Community Involvement teams will be working with students from local primary schools in Tower Hamlets, and their parents, on this innovative digital storytelling project designed to inspire both generations to learn more about the Tower’s great history.

Palace Explorers 2

Students are on a seven week quest to release the Bookkeeper, a fictional character imprisoned at the Tower for losing all the great stories from the Tower Story Book, and to achieve this they must become Palace Explorers, experts on the Tower’s existing stories, as well as their own. Only this way, the Tower Story Book can be filled again and the Bookkeeper can be released. At the same time, parents of students are working on a range of photographic projects inspired by the Tower, helping them to create their own digital stories while drawing on themes that bring the Tower community and the school community together to celebrate our shared heritage.
