Things to see and do at the Tower for one, two and three hour visits

We recommend that you allow at least 3 hours to make the most of your visit to the Tower. For visitors who have less time or would like to plan their route in advance, we recommend the following timings:

Visit the Crown Jewels, one of the unmissable highlights of a visit to the Tower of London (20 mins).

Visit the White Tower built by William the Conqueror, which today houses displays from the Royal Armouries’ collection (20 mins).

Walk through surprisingly rich colours and comfortable furnishings of the Medieval Palace (20 mins).


2 hours

Join one of the famous Yeoman Warder tours and hear exciting tales from the Tower’s past (60 mins).

Enjoy lunch in the New Armouries Restaurant

Visit Traitors' Gate where prisoners accused of treason are supposed to have passed through, including Queen Elizabeth I (5 mins).

Take a ‘Prisoners of the Tower' audio tour and learn of some of the Tower's famous 'guests'

Visit the Scaffold Site and see where seven of the Tower's most important prisoners were executed, including three queens (10 mins).
