The best part of the job, he says, is getting to meet people from all over the world.
But keeping up a cheerful appearance for all the visitors is also one of the hardest parts … being ‘on post’ all day long sometimes means having to answer the same questions over and over again!
But Crawford is philosophical:
‘It’s not worth getting in a bad mood as then the day just drags on - and you can have a great laugh with people if you go about it the right way.’
Before becoming a Yeoman Warder, Crawford was in the Army.
He joined at 15 and served for 25 years. He and his family live at the Tower which, he says, is ‘like living in a small village’.
