To mark the end of her term as Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Cllr. Julie Mills wanted to do something special for some isolated older people in the borough. She got in touch with the Outreach & Community Involvement team at Kensington Palace and we decided to hold two tea parties for groups of older people in Queen Victoria's Bedroom at the start of May 2012.

After a tour through the King's State Apartments, attendees entered Victoria's Bedroom to take their seats at long tables, and enjoy afternoon tea with scones and sandwiches, cakes, coffee and tea - and a glass of Prosecco each too! They all spoke to the Mayor, who attended both parties and made a very nice speech at each.

The parties were lovely and we were delighted to be able to work with the Mayor and her team on these special occasions.
