Learning is at the heart of our interpretation strategy and storytelling is the means by which we deliver this strategy. We tell the palaces’ stories in a warm, lively and personal tone of voice using rich and varied imagery and live, costumed interpreters.

We recognise that our visitors do not all learn in the same way and so we aim to cater for all learning styles: auditory, reading/writing, visual or kinaesthetic. 

We also ensure that interpretation is accessible to our many visitors whose first language is not English. This includes providing translated information and finding alternative means of communication which do not require translation such as images, films, atmospheric sounds, smells and object handling. 

We aim to deliver clear and accurate interpretation, all based on thorough curatorial research. And our approach intersects with the education programme where experiential activity, object handling and use of the historic spaces take prime position.

It is also closely linked to the outreach and community involvement programme where audience groups join us in the planning and delivery of the interpretation programme.
