In the Outreach & Community Involvement (OCI) team we focus on reaching out to people and groups who aren’t already engaged with the history, stories and built heritage of the palaces because of social, cultural, financial or physical barriers.
Our small team particularly tries to work with communities local to the palaces, and to break down barriers to access and engagement.
Every year we engage thousands of people local to the palaces through bespoke projects, public events, special occasions and resources; these can range from a storytelling session for parents and toddlers at a library to a drama project for young people, ESOL sessions or embroidery activities for adults, citizenship ceremonies and carol services, and so much more.
You can find out more about our programme of activities across all of the palaces, our evaluation procedures, our past projects and much more here.
At the palaces
Each of our palaces is very different, not just in terms of size, architecture, historic events and characters, but the local communities in which they sit too.
We have more information about our work at each of the palaces here.

Community partnerships
Get involved!
Our success depends on working with a wide range of partners: community groups, schools, funding bodies, education and business partnerships, corporate social responsibility units and many more.
If you are interested in working with us at any of our palaces please email outreachandcommunity@hrp.org.uk
Some community groups with whom we have worked extensively over the years have become Community Partners of Historic Royal Palaces. These are organisations which are based in the communities around our palaces and with whom we share knowledge and opportunities, both for them and us, and commit to a programme of activity for their service users over a period of time. They range from health and education organisations to arts and advisory groups in our local boroughs.
Supporting projects
Your financial support can help deliver real engagement to people who might not otherwise be able to access the palaces. You can help offer disadvantaged communities unique opportunities to engage with heritage in a supported way.
If you’d like to help extend this valuable work please email us, or find out more about funding projects from our Development Department.
