Accounts Payable Assistant

My day…  mostly involves answering supplier and staff queries, and processing invoices.  There are two Accounts Payable Assistants. We also reconcile staff procurement card statements and expense claims. We are also on call should staff need assistance with the purchase order process. I also do the petty cash each week.

You need to be:  Able to work with people and have a good telephone manner, as much of the day is involves answering queries.  You also need to be able to prioritise your day and be organised as we are a busy department and have deadlines to meet.  Above all, you need to be able to work in a team, as there is no “I” in team.

Previously I was...  employed in the banking industry, having worked for a major bank in South Africa where I was HOD of Credit at their Corporate Banking Division.  I had also been HOD for Home Loan Finance. I also did the S.A. Estate Agents Board Exam, and before immigrating to the UK did a stint as an Estate Agent.

Highlights:  Working for HRP is a dream for me. I could not think of a better place to work.  Just looking out my window and seeing the tourists in awe of what they are seeing is just fantastic. I find my job interesting, as you get to be part of what is going on in all five palaces. 
 
Lowlights:  Dealing with suppliers chasing payments. Thankfully this is not very often! 

Essential equipment:  Good computer and communication skills are vital. And the will to learn new things!
