Employee Benefits

Holiday pay

All staff are entitled to 25 days paid holiday per annum plus eight public holidays.  Holiday entitlement is increased to 28 days per year after the completion of three years service. Please note that this entitlement is pro-rated for part time and seasonal employees.

Pension Scheme

All established staff are eligible to join the Group Personal Pension scheme on joining HRP.  Upon successful completion of their probationary period of employment, HRP will pay employer contributions.  Staff are required to pay a minimum of 2% of their pensionable salary, while we contribute at a minimum rate of 6% increasing to 9%.

A Stakeholder Pension Scheme is also available for temporary staff

Income Replacement Plan

This plan provides our established staff that choose to join the pension scheme, with an income in the event of long term incapacity due to illness or injury (subject to meeting the normal eligibility requirements of the insurance company). The level of benefit is 50% of your pensionable salary (less State benefits) and is payable after 12 months of continuous absence from work due to illness or injury. This is a non-contributory plan.

Life Assurance

A lump sum payment which is equivalent to four times pensionable salary is paid to the beneficiaries of an employee through the Group Death in Service scheme.  This is a non-contributory programme.

Sick Pay

All established staff who have completed one year of service are entitled to 26 weeks of paid sick leave at full pay, and 26 weeks of paid leave at half pay.

Free admission to all Historic Royal Palaces sites

All staff and their family guests are entitled to free entry to any of our palaces.  In addition, we have an arrangement with the Royal Collection for free entry to some Royal Household properties.  

Staff Discount

Our staff are offered generous staff discounts at all of our shops and catering outlets.  Many discounts are also offered by local businesses which are situated near to our palaces. Staff may also benefit from discounts to major events occurring at our palaces, eg  Hampton Court Flower Show, Music Festivals and Ice Rinks.

Membership Scheme

All established staff automatically become a member of the HRP Membership Scheme upon joining the organisation. For further information on the membership scheme please click here

Learning and development opportunities

As an Investor in People, we offer a wide range of different learning opportunities by providing all of our employees access to the learning resource materials which are located in our Learning Zone facilities.

Competitor Reviews

We encourage members of staff to expand their knowledge of other visitor attractions, so we will refund the cost of entrance.  We ask that our staff complete a competitor visit questionnaire. The information received from competitor interviews enables us to identify areas where we may be able to improve our own services.

Employee Assistance Programme

All eligible employees are entitled to utilise the services of our Employee Assistance Programme which is provided by EAR Accor. This external service is independent, free and completely confidential and is available for information, counselling and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year.

Season ticket loans

Interest free loans to assist with the purchase of travel season tickets and travel cards are available to established employees who have more than more than two month’s service

Lifetime passes

All established staff who leave the organisation, with at least ten year’s service with Historic Royal Palaces and are entitled to a lifetime pass. The pass entitles the employee, and one adult guest, to continued free entry to all of our palaces.

Private Medical Cover (BUPA)

All established employees and their families are entitled to receive 45% discount off BUPACare (subject to BUPA terms and conditions)

Benenden Health Care

Benenden offers our staff a healthcare service which works alongside the NHS. It provides prompt access to a local consultant or specialist. Membership is open to all established staff and their families (subject to conditions).

CSMA

Free CSMA membership is open to all of our established staff and provides a wide range of motoring, leisure, home and financial service benefits.

Independent Financial Advice

Historic Royal Palaces has appointed an independent financial advisor to act on our behalf to give impartial guidance to our staff on all aspects of pensions planning, investment, life assurance and tax planning, this being in addition to running our AVC, Stakeholder and new Group Personal Pension plan.  All consultations are free of charge to staff.
