My day…Facilities Manager is a broad role that encompasses many aspects across the palaces. I am primarily responsible for the management of the cleaning contract and my team and I try to ensure a 5 star service in this respect to our visitors and staff.
I am also responsible for the management of the post room services, recycling and sustainability, pest control, porterage, water coolers and stationery contracts across the palaces.
I am also part of the accommodation strategy team for Hampton Court Palace where responsibilities include collecting new accommodation requests or office space needs for many departments in order to make best use of vacant areas.
You need to be: Really proactive, positive and approachable as you often don’t have too much time to think and must take quick action in order to rectify issues or respond to requests without impacting on visitors’ experience.
You must be great a communicator as most of my work involves other departments, either directly or indirectly, and communication must flow smoothly at all times.
