Have you ever felt a king’s heart beating in your hands?

Discover the hidden history at the heart of London as you explore the largest palace in Europe – 300 years after it burnt to the ground. Joust for Elizabeth I, eavesdrop on Guy Fawkes' interrogation, act for Shakespeare, and take part in sword fight with Charles II's men...

"A really thrilling experience.” BBC Click

The Lost Palace is a unique combination of immersive audio theatre, interactive technology and architectural installations. Take a journey through Whitehall’s modern streets as you hear, touch and feel the past…

There are two ways to enjoy The Lost Palace:

  • Daytime visitors can choose between child (7+) or adult (12+) versions - both of which will keep you together to share the experience
  • Evening visitors will receive an adult (16+) version which includes some of the more *salacious* stories from the palace’s past

The history is in your hands…

Starting and ending at Banqueting House on Whitehall opposite Horse Guard's Parade, The Lost Palace tours will take you around Whitehall’s modern streets to the exact places where Whitehall Palace’s most remarkable history happened.

"I was amazed how easily modern life drifted to the background whilst the past became more vivid and alive around me”. Visitor to The Lost Palace

You will be given a handheld wooden digital device that will allow you to travel back in time – to listen in to and virtually take part in these events whilst stood in the footsteps of some of the most famous characters from English history. Around the route you will encounter spectacular architectural installations, inspired by the parts of the palace that once stood in those places.

Please note the following:

The Lost Palace lasts 80 minutes and takes place mostly outdoors - please be prepared for the weather conditions. It is an active experience and will require you to be on your feet for most of its duration - and require walking around one mile. Some surfaces are uneven, including cobbles and grass. Tickets are valid for the stated start time only, no latecomers permitted. Please arrive up to 15 minutes before stated start time. Visitors to The Lost Palace will wear headphones for the duration. Daytime experience suitable for children age 7+. Evening experience for age 16+ only.

The Lost Palace is developed in collaboration with award-winning designers Chomko & Rosier, international theatre company Uninvited Guests (with Lewis Gibson) and software developers Calvium Ltd.
