How much does a ticket cost?

What does my admission ticket cover?
There are separate 'Maze-only' and 'Gardens-only' tickets, but a 'Palace, Maze & Gardens' ticket covers all areas of the palace, normally open. There is no Palace-only ticket. There are dozens of famous and exciting sights at Hampton Court Palace and access to the majority of these is included in your 'Palace, Maze & Gardens' admission ticket. Does my ticket include the Tudor Kitchens? When can I see the Tudor cookery?
Yes. Your 'Palace, Maze & Gardens' ticket admission includes a visit to the Tudor Kitchens. Live Tudor cookery demonstrations regularly take place in the Tudor Kitchens. Dates and more information.
How do I find out what will be on when I visit?

How can I book admission tickets?
You can book tickets to Hampton Court Palace online, by telephone, or in person at Hampton Court Palace and from any staffed South West Trains station. Group bookings can also be made for groups of 15 or more people. More information and bookings.
How do I book tickets for the annual Hampton Court Palace Flower Show?
The Hampton Court Palace Flower Show is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and is the largest flower show in the world. The RHS deal with all ticket sales - tickets are not sold at the palace. They usually go on sale in December or January.
How do I book tickets for the Hampton Court Palace Music Festival?
The Hampton Court Palace Music Festival is renowned for presenting legendary artists across all music genres. A limited number of tickets for this are usually sold at the palace.

Tesco deal tokens
Tesco Club Card point collectors should exchange their Tesco Club Card Vouchers for Days Out Tokens / Clubcard Deals Tokens via the Tesco website. These can then be used for admission tickets purchased in person at the palace ticket office. They can be used for payment or part payment of non-discounted tickets only - so adult, child or concession tickets but not the family ticket or HRP Membership. They can't be used on advanced tickets.
Can I book tickets in advance using ATOC 2 for 1 offers?
Completed ATOC vouchers need to be handed in at the ticket desk in person to claim the discount. This is because proof of travel documents (i.e. your train ticket) need to be presented at the same time.

I’ve lost something at the palace – what do I do?
If you lose something during your visit please contact the nearest member of staff. All lost property is held by the Reception Office. Can I buy food and drink at Hampton Court Palace?
Yes. There are various cafés at the palace offering a wide range of refreshments, snacks and meals. More information.
Can we have a picnic at the palace?
Yes. You can picnic in the gardens at Hampton Court Palace. Bring along your own picnic, or pick up a wide range of take-away sandwiches and food from our cafes. Please note food and drink are not permitted within the confines of the buildings. The Schools' Lunchrooms in the Barrack Block (at the eastern end of the building by the car park) and off Base Court are available at weekends and during school holidays as covered picnic spaces.

Can I take photographs?
Yes ... but!
- Photography and/or filming is permitted in all areas of the palace with the exception of the Chapel Royal, Royal Pew and Cumberland Art Gallery.
- No photography/filming is allowed in the Chapel Royal and Royal Pew. This includes no photography of Henry VIII's State Crown, which is displayed in the Royal Pew.
- No photography/filming is allowed in the Cumberland Art Gallery.
- Photography/filming should be for personal, non commercial use only.
- No bridal photography is permitted unless Hampton Court Palace has been hired specifically as the wedding venue.
- Access behind ropes or other barriers is strictly prohibited.
- The use of tripods inside the building is not permitted unless arrangements have been made in advance with our conservation team (to protect the floors from the tripod base so that it doesn't cause damage).
- Selfie sticks are also not allowed to be used inside the palace for the same conservation and visitor experience reasons.
- Tripods and selfie sticks may be used in external areas (i.e. courtyards and gardens) as long as access for other visitors is not going to be compromised.
- The frequent use of flash is discouraged as it disrupts the enjoyment of the palace for other visitors.
- Commercial photography, filming or sketching is not permitted unless authorised in advance. Contact our Press Office regarding commercial photography.
- Photography/filming in and of temporary exhibitions is prohibited.

Can I use my mobile phone inside the palace?
You are welcome to take photographs on your phone (as long as it's not attached to a selfie stick) but, for the benefit and enjoyment of other visitors, please have your phone on silent so that the Tudor and Baroque atmospheres aren’t interrupted by 21st Century ring tones! If your phone does ring and you need to take the call please make your way into one of the courtyards or the gardens. Please also note that mobile reception is generally average to poor within the confines of the building.
Is there anywhere I can leave my heavy bags?
There are some left luggage lockers off Clock Court. They can hold hand baggage and a small rucksack or overnight bag as they are 45cms wide x 45cms deep. One set are 55cms high and the other set are 40cms high. A £1 coin is required to use them, which will be returned after use. Large bags or suitcases may be left at your own risk in the Warders Office by the West Gate. Please speak to the warders when you present your ticket if you would like to use this facility. This facility may be withdrawn without notice.
Is there anywhere to change my baby?
There are baby-changing facilities in both the male and female toilets located off Base Court near the shop. The female toilet includes a Mother & Baby Room which contains bottle warmers and some comfy chairs. Baby-changing facilities are also available in the female toilet in the Tiltyard Cafe.
Where can I leave my pushchair?
A buggy park is available next to the left luggage lockers off Clock Court if you don’t want to take the buggy around with you. All items are left at owners’ risk. However, pushchairs or buggies may be taken around the palace. Please speak to a warder if you wish to use the lift that we have for anyone unable to manage the stairs.
Can my child take their scooter in with them?
For the safety and wellbeing of the palace and all our visitors, we do not allow scooters in to the palace or formal gardens. Please leave scooters with staff at the main entrance to Hampton Court Palace at West Gate. Scooters can be collected on leaving the palace.
What can children and family groups do at the palace?
We have a number of activities and tours available that will entertain family groups:
- Under 5s - The Family Room next to the left luggage lockers and buggy park off Clock Court has limited play equipment for those who need to let off a bit of steam.
- 5-11 year olds - We have some Family Trails for older students that will enhance their knowledge of the palace. Three family audio tours are also available. Aimed at the over 6’s, they present the palace in a light-hearted way. During school holidays, we also have costume guided events and craft activities that are aimed at primary school aged children.
- All ages - Our regular, scheduled, costumed presentations and plays are aimed at all ages. Five more general audio tours are available for those who have exhausted the family ones. We also recommend the Maze for all ages. Admission to the Maze is included in your palace ticket. There is a separate admission charge for those who just want to visit the Maze. I have my own historic costume – can I wear it to the palace?
Sorry, but as we employ costumed interpreters and costumed guides (from all historic periods, not just from Tudor times) we do not admit visitors wearing their own costumes as other people may get confused between who is a member of staff and who isn’t. That said, any child under the age of 12 who comes dressed for a role at court - whether as a knight or a princess – will be made very welcome. Costumed adults accompanying a large party of costumed children (e.g. a school group) will be admitted as long as they stay with their party.
So how can I look like I’m dressed for court?
In the King’s Wardrobe (in the Information Centre, off Base Court) you can find traditional velvet cloaks in a variety of sizes. They are subject to availability but there is no reason why any visitor shouldn’t be suitably dressed for court.
Can I bring my dog with me?
Only registered and recognisable assistance, service or guide dogs are allowed inside Hampton Court Palace, in the Maze and in the formal gardens.
Can I leave my dog anywhere while I visit the palace?
There are no facilities for dogs to be left while their owners visit the palace and they should not be left in cars in the palace car park (owners of any animals left in cars are libel to prosecution under the Animal Welfare Act and we are obliged to call the police to parked vehicles containing animals, especially dogs). However, you are very welcome to walk your dog in those areas of the palace gardens that do not require an entrance ticket, and in Home Park. Please keep your dog on a short lead, stick to the paths and remove any dog litter.
Are members of the armed forces entitled to free entry?
Historic Royal Palaces is a registered charity and we are unable to offer free admission. We do have a discounted entry price to Hampton Court Palace for serving members of the armed forces, on production of a valid military ID card on the day of their visit. The discount applies only to the card holder, not to other family members.

I’m holding a fundraising event – can I get free tickets to raffle/auction?
As Historic Royal Palaces is a charity, we receive no funding from the Government or the Crown, we depend on the support of our visitors, members, donors, volunteers and sponsors. We are unable to support other fundraising activities with donations or complimentary tickets.
I’m involved with a choir that sings services in churches and cathedrals during the holidays. Can we sing the services in the Chapel Royal?
The Chapel Royal choir provides the music for all services; when the choir are on holiday so are the clergy. So there are no gaps in the schedule that a visiting choir could fill.
So could I join them?
The Chapel Royal is a working chapel and part of the Royal Household which includes a Chaplain, a Director of Music and a wonderful choir of Boys and Gentlemen. Boy choristers come from a variety of local schools and the Gentlemen are professional singers; together they provide the music for all the services in the Chapel Royal at Hampton Court Palace. There are plenty of opportunities to hear them sing and there is a choristers open day each year in early September. Please visit www.chapelroyal.org for more information.
