Make History

Last Saturday of every month
11.00, 12.30 and 14.30 (duration 45 minutes)
Get hands on and make a different aspect of palace history each month, from gardening to painting and chocolate making.
Please note workshops are bookable on the day from the Family Desk. Aimed at children aged 7 - 11 years.

Great Garden Designs

Saturday 27 August
Re-design the palace gardens for Queen Mary II, inspired by the great gardens at the palace of Versailles. Craft your own beautiful patterns and designs with artist Natalie Ryde.

A cup of Georgian hot chocolate

Saturday 24 September
Get a flavour of George II's court and taste the exotic new drink of the elite. Mix your own hot chocolate and add sugar and spices to make your own special recipe.


Story Time for Under 5s

Wednesday 10 August
11.30, 13.00 & 14.30 (duration 20 - 30 minutes)
Come along for a story in the Queen’s Gallery and join in with a favourite nursery rhyme. Each session includes the opportunity to stay and play with some of our themed toys and resources.


Garden Games

Every Wednesday in August
11.00 - 16.00

Bring a picnic and come and play games in the palace garden, with trails available from the family desk in the Group Entrance. Then venture into the palace, have an audience with Queen Caroline and hear her exciting plans for the garden at set times throughout the day (see details  below).

Storytelling: The Green-Fingered Queen
11.00, 12.00, 14.00 and 15.00 (duration 20 mins)

You are honoured to have an audience with Queen Caroline! Can you help her design the new gardens for Kensington? Find out about her grand designs for the gardens and hear her tales of the latest discoveries of the day. This activity takes place inside the palace and is included in general admission.


Family trail: the Queen's Grand Gardens

Explore the palace gardens with Queen Caroline as your guide. Find out about the history of the gardens as you wiggle your way through the wiggly walk, see what wild life you can find living in the gardens and hunt for the Indian Bean Tree.

Recommended for children aged 5 to 11. Collect a free trail when you buy your ticket.
