Our Cause is about how people and monarchs have shaped the society in which we live. Kensington Palace was built in 1689 for King William III and Queen Mary II after they had been invited by parliament to become monarchs. Power was changing. In recent times and even today the palace is still lived in by some members of the family of the Queen. She is a constitutional monarch, and power rests with the people.
