Citizenship

Understanding society, and being better citizens, through the Hall of Heroes at Kensington Palace.

King William III ©The Holburne Museum of Art Bridgeman Art Library

Our Cause is about how people and monarchs have shaped the society in which we live. Kensington Palace was built in 1689 for King William III and Queen Mary II after they had been invited by parliament to become monarchs. Power was changing. In recent times and even today the palace is still lived in by some members of the family of the Queen. She is a constitutional monarch, and power rests with the people.

In association with Arts and Business.

HSBC Private Bank and Historic Royal Palaces have received an investment from A&B to develop their creative partnership.  The A&B Investment Programme is funded by Arts Council England, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Scottish Executive.

We can tell the story of that change at Kensington Palace.

More than that, powerful personalities have shaped our world - men and women who are heroes for their time and ours. Women are particularly important in the story of Kensington Palace, leading society, leading fashion, leading change.

The shining examples in this Hall of Heroes - or in the profiles that you create - help us all understand society and be better citizens.
