Famous for leading his troops into battle

George was the last monarch to do so in 1743 at the Battle of Dettingen.

George II with his wife Queen Caroline completed the remodelling of both Kensington Palace and Hampton Court Palace initiated by his father George I.

Did you know?

George II had a terrible relationship with his son, Frederick Prince of Wales.

They quarrelled constantly, and Frederick, his wife and family were eventually banished from the court in 1737.
