St. John the Evangelist stands to the right of the centre of the painitng. His hands are folded in prayer. St. John the Evangelist was Christ’s favourite disciple. Although half of this figure is now destroyed we can see that he is very finely painted – he has lovely curly hair! As with all the saints in the painting, his halo is painted with real gold leaf.
