St. John the Evangelist stands to the right of the centre of the painitng.  His hands are folded in prayer. St. John the Evangelist was Christ’s favourite disciple. He is depicted as a youth, without a beard and looking quite angelic. St. John the Evangelist stands to the right of the image of Christ on the Cross (now gone).  His hands are folded in prayer. St. John the Evangelist was Christ’s favourite disciple. He is depicted as a youth, without a beard and looking quite angelic. Although half of this figure is now destroyed we can see that he is very finely painted – he has lovely curly hair! As with all the saints in the painting, his halo is painted with real gold leaf.
