Chapel of St John the Evangelist, Tower of London
Henry III added either painted sculptures or wall paintings to the chapel. Like most of the Tower’s paintings, they’re gone now. The Victorian architect Sir Anthony Salvin restored the chapel to its original state, and most of the ancient plaster was removed. The back wall, that I call the West wall Archway, was an important part of the chapel. It's thought that the Norman kings sat here in state upon a platform, during the chapel service.
