Christmas 2015: Festive fun fit for a (Tudor) Queen at Hampton Court Palace!

Florimania at Christmas

Experience all the pomp, pageantry and excitement of an Elizabethan yuletide as Hampton Court welcomes in the 2015 festive season in regal style

Selected dates from 20 November 2015

With carolling in the courtyards, musical performances, Tudor cookery, an elaborately dressed Christmas tree and even skating in the shadow of King Henry VIII’s famous pleasure palace, there’s something for everyone this Christmas at Hampton Court.

Opening on 20 November 2015, the ice-rink once again takes up residence outside the palace’s iconic Tudor façade, offering the chance to enjoy the magical surroundings while taking a turn on the ice. The popular rink-side Ice Bar and café also returns, offering mulled wine and hot chocolate perfect for keeping out the cold as well as hearty hot pies and filled crêpes.

From 4 to 6 December 2015 the palace will be playing host to the first ever BBC Good Food Festive Fayre, which will see stalls from over 50 handpicked producers fill the palace’s courtyards, selling fabulous seasonal food and drink.

Stock up the pantry for Christmas from exhibitors including the Hebridean Food Company and Christmas liquors from Portobello Gin. Plus, pick up ideas on how to impress your friends and family this holiday season from top chefs including Hemsley + Hemsley in the Winter Kitchen - set in the atmospheric Tudor Kitchens - complete with roaring fire. Hampton Court’s very own Chapel Royal Choir will be performing in Clock Court, providing a traditional accompaniment to the festive merriment.

Continuing in Hampton Court’s great musical tradition, on selected weekends in November and December the palace will be brought to life with seasonal music and carols throughout the ages, performed by a host of celebrated musicians and vocalists. From the English and German carols known and loved by the Georgian monarchs and their court to Victorian carols in regal brass arrangements which still define Christmas today, this timeless programme of music is the perfect way to get into the festive spirit.

From 27 December 2015, visitors to Hampton Court Palace will become guests at one of the most lavish twelfth night celebrations ever held at the palace. It’s 1593 and with the ageing Queen Elizabeth I in residence, her courtiers are resorting to ever more ostentatious displays in order to win favour with the difficult to please monarch. Join them for the ceremonial presentation of the gifts and experience the exquisite music, dancing and revelry of an Elizabethan celebration, complete with its own Master of the Revels. Meanwhile downstairs in the palace’s historic Tudor kitchens chefs will be busy creating some of the period’s favourite Yuletide treats. Learn some tips for creating a historic Christmas dinner at a Live Tudor Cookery demonstration, or discover how the kitchens were required to provide an astonishing 600 meals – twice a day – to feed the lavish court celebrations.

We raise all our own funds and depend on the support of our visitors, members, donors, sponsors and volunteers. With the exception of Hillsborough Castle, these palaces are owned by The Queen on behalf of the nation, and we manage them for the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
