Dust off your mantua and powder your wig as Kensington Palace throws open its doors for a spectacular children’s Georgian themed slumber party on Friday 16 May 2014.

Ever wondered what goes on at Kensington Palace after hours? A lucky group of budding Prince and Princesses are about to find out, as the doors to the Palace are thrown open for a spectacular children’s sleepover! Join the glamorous Georgian Court and experience all the pomp and excitement as they prepare for a magical night at the royal masked ball!

Pick up tips and tricks on how to become the perfect young courtier, take a master class in etiquette, and join the cream of Georgian society for the party of the year. Worried your dance moves aren’t up to scratch? Why not take part in a Georgian dance class and watch as the fashionable members of the court show you the all steps you’ll need to impress the glittering royal guests of honour? Once you’ve mastered the moves, complete your transformation by creating your very own masquerade mask, and discover the elaborate world of Georgian beauty, with lashings of perfume, powder, and even pimples! All set? Time to go to the ball.

Join the courtiers heading for a dance and put your new found know-how to the test as you experience the fun and merriment of a real Georgian party at the palace. Lords, ladies, knights and even spies are welcome at the ball; you might even spot a member of the Hanoverian royal family!

Once the festivities have ended, what better place for a royal sleepover than one of Kensington Palace’s sumptuous State Apartments? Be sure to try and get some sleep, as the next morning, breakfast fit for a Prince or Princess awaits!

Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace and Kew Palace. We help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built.

We raise all our own funds and depend on the support of our visitors, members, donors, volunteers and sponsors. These palaces are owned by The Queen on behalf of the nation, and we manage them for the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.

We believe in four principles. Guardianship: giving these palaces a future as long and valuable as their past. Discovery: encouraging people to make links with their own lives and today’s world. Showmanship: doing everything with panache. Independence: having our own point of view and finding new ways to do our work.
