The Kensington System
The Kensington System was the set of very strict rules that Victoria was forced to abide by when she was growing up.

These rules were set up by Victoria’s mother, the Duchess of Kent and her ambitious adviser, Sir John Conroy. The aim of the rules was to keep Victoria under their control so that she would do what they wanted.

She was never allowed out of the sight of an adult and was rarely allowed to meet other children.

Victoria even had to sleep in the same room as her mother until she became queen!
