There are many projects that represent Historic Royal Palaces’ key principles of Guardianship, Discovery, Showmanship and Independence and these would not have been possible without support from donations.

These projects have included:

  • The re-presentation of Kensington Palace
  • The cleaning and repair of the White Tower at the Tower of London
  • The re-presentation of the Jewel House at the Tower of London
  • The opening of the Georgian Royal Kitchens at Kew Palace

Forthcoming projects for which every donation is vital include:

  • The re-presentation of the Baroque Palace at Hampton Court Palace
  • The transformation of the State Apartments at Kensington Palace
  • The Magic Garden at Hampton Court Palace - a unique play garden for families, inspired by the magic of Hampton Court's stories
  • The conservation and re-presentation of the magnificent Banqueting House, the last survivor of the great Palace of Whitehall
  • Transforming our work in the field of Conservation and Collections Care
  • The presentation of the Tower as London's fortress - bringing to life wall walks, drawbridges and portcullises
  • Education, learning and outreach projects across all five palaces

Tax effective giving

Thanks to the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s recent changes to the tax laws concerning charitable giving, there has never been a better time to make a gift.

Gift Aid made easy

The Gift Aid Scheme has been made much more user-friendly for the average donor with the abolition of the minimum donation requirement.

  • If you are a basic or higher rate UK taxpayer, the Gift Aid Scheme allows us to reclaim a further 25p on every £1 you donate to us. This really boosts our income – and doesn’t cost you a single penny extra!
  • If you pay higher rate tax, you can claim the difference between the higher rate of tax 40 and/or 50 per cent and the basic rate of tax 20 per cent on the total 'gross' value of your donation.  This means that your donation of £1000 will be worth £1250 for Historic Royal Palaces and will mean you can claim back £250 if you pay tax at 40 per cent (£1250 × 20%) or £370.50 if you pay tax at 50 per cent (£1250 × 20%) plus (£1250 × 10%).

All you have to do to enable us to claim the tax back from the Inland Revenue is to sign the Gift Aid declaration (opens as a PDF) and return it to Historic Royal Palaces.
