Volunteers support the palaces in many different ways, from departments requiring skilled assistance to other areas where good communication skills are the only qualification!
As a volunteer we hope to be able to offer you the opportunity to develop your valuable skills and to ‘see behind the scenes’ of these historic royal palaces. We actively welcome and encourage people from our local communities to join the volunteer programme and to engage with Historic Royal Palaces

Volunteers assisting at Hampton Court Palace during the Olympic cycle time trials - August 2012
We believe that volunteers provide an important and invaluable link between the historic buildings in our care, our visitors and the local community.

Volunteers assisting in the Gardens at Hampton Court Palace.
Volunteers complement and support the work of our staff, using their existing skills, developing new talents and enabling us to further enrich and enhance the visitor experience and to undertake projects that we would not normally be able to carry out.
We offer our volunteers the chance to attend seminars, walks, talks and training to further develop their interest and knowledge about our five Palaces.

The volunteer programme offers opportunities to those who are interested and dedicated in supporting Historic Royal Palaces and we ask that our volunteers commit to a minimum of 48 hours a year, our aim being to encourage volunteers to stay involved on a regular basis.
