Why do I have to pay the Kew Gardens entry fee to get to Kew Palace?
Historic Royal Palaces only manage the building and its footprint. The gardens in the immediate environs of the palace and the surrounding Kew Gardens continue to be managed by a separate organisation - the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.  Due to the strict Gift Aid laws imposed by HMRC, we are restricted by the amount of benefits we are able to give to members and the monetary value thereof.  Under these provisions we are able to give Historic Royal Palaces members discounted entry to Kew Gardens with the voucher issued by the Membership team.

HRP members receive a voucher for discounted entry on joining and it entitles each named member entry to Kew Gardens for just £10. The voucher is subject to terms and conditions which can be found on the reverse. As an individual or family one adult member you'll receive one voucher and as a joint or family member you'll receive two vouchers per membership year, accompanied children under 16 go free to the gardens.

We do include a statement about the Kew Palace admissions as a caveat and it is on all of the membership literature ‘Entrance to Kew Palace is free as part of the membership subscription. However entrance to Kew Gardens is not included and must be paid for at the published rates’.

Can I use Tesco Vouchers?
You can only exchange your Tesco Vouchers to Tesco Days Out Tokens.  You can then buy a day entry ticket to the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace or Kensington Palace.  At the end of your visit to the palace of your choice you can then upgrade the tickets towards the membership cost.  Please see Membership upgrades  for more information on upgrades.  Please note that Tesco Vouchers can't be used for the full cost of the membership.

Membership cards

I have lost my card - please can I have another?
Please either call us on 0844 482 7788 or email us at members@hrp.org.uk with your membership number, surname or post code and we will print a new card and send it as soon as possible.

I joined online but I would like to start visiting straightaway, what shall I do?
If you joined the membership scheme online then you should have received a confirmation email.  We will post your permanent card and membership pack within 28 days.  If you plan to visit one of the palaces before you receive your permanent card, your confirmation email will give you full access to all five palaces. Just bring it with you, along with the credit/debit card used to purchase your membership, and we will give you a temporary membership card that is valid for one month.

Does my membership card allow me to skip the queues?
Your membership enables you to skip the long ticket queues and head straight to the palace entrance with your membership card.  Please note that there might sometimes be queues that you'll need to join at the palace entrances whilst the security teams check bags, tickets and membership cards.  The palace staff work hard to ensure that these queues move very quickly.  Please also take note that there may also be queues to get into popular exhibitions at each of the palace, for example the Crown Jewels.
