All sessions are designed for classes up to 30 children.

Home for a King 

Did King Edward I wear pyjamas? Your students can peek into the King's bedchamber and examine replica artefacts with a member of the royal household. The room will come to life with stories of the Tower's fascinating past comparing medieval home life with lives today.

This session especially supports skills of historical interpretation and enquiry.

Knights, Castles and Kings

Transport your students back in time to a world of knights, castles and kings. A costumed presenter will captivate you with true tales from the Tower's colourful history while exploring one of the oldest palaces in Britain. Stories can vary depending on the age and interests of the group.

This session especially supports skills of historical enquiry and English speaking and listening by exploring the historic environment through storytelling.

This session includes time spent exploring outdoor areas of the site - please encourage students to dress appropriately for the weather.

Fire! Fire!

It is 1666, London is ablaze. The fire is spreading east approaching the Tower's doorstep… and the fortress is filled with gunpowder! Students will meet a costumed character who will describe these terrible events and tell the story of Mr Pepys watching the flames from inside the ancient Tower walls.

This session especially supports skills of historical enquiry and English speaking and listening by exploring the historic environment through storytelling.

Gunpowder, Treason and Plot

Why did the Gunpowder Plot fail? Join one of King James' courtiers to explore the thrilling story of Guy Fawkes' plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament – and visit some of the prison cells that housed his fellow conspirators. This session will be led by a costumed presenter and will take place across a number of sites within the Tower that hold particular relevance for the plot of 1605.

This session especially supports skills of historical interpretation by exploring differing interpretations of a key historical figure.

This session includes time spent exploring outdoor areas of the site - please encourage students to dress appropriately for the weather.
