Fire, Fire!
History Unit 5
It is 1666 and the city of London is ablaze. The fire is spreading east and approaching the Tower’s doorstep … and the fortress is filled with gunpowder! Pupils will discover how close the Tower came to destruction in this session when they meet a costumed character who will describe these terrible events. The session will also examine examples of pre-fire housing within the Tower, and the story of Mr Pepys, who observed the flames from inside this ancient fortress.

Guy Fawkes
Citizenship Unit 1
Why did the Gunpowder Plot fail? Students will join one of King James’s courtiers in the Tower to explore the thrilling story of Guy Fawkes’s plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament. Your group will also visit some of the prison cells that housed Fawkes’s fellow conspirators after their capture.
