The Royal Fusiliers

The Royal Fusiliers Archives held at the Tower of London relate to former Royal Fusiliers of two Regiments and four Battalions:

The regiments covered are:

7th Regiment of Foot pre 1881
City of London Regiment 1881-1968

The battalians covered are:

1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Battalion of the London Regiment 1908-1937.

The Royal Fusiliers Archive also hold copies of Battalion Diaries for both World Wars and Regimental Enlistment Books for the period 1919-1939. The details in these books may vary.

The Archivist would require the surname, initials and/or army number to undertake any enquiry.


The Royal Fusiliers Archive charge a £10 non-refundable research fee per hour and reserve the right to recommend a reputable Researcher who will quote their own fee if your enquiry is outside the remit of the Archivist.

Other places to look have now added records to their extensive range of genealogical sources. The military section includes soldiers discharged to pension from 1760 to 1913. Medal Rolls for the Anglo-Boar War 1899-1902 are here.
