Tower of London 

Ceremony of the Keys
Dates: 20 Nov, 11 Dec, 15 Jan, 12 Feb, 12 March and 16 April
Price: The event is free but we ask for a donation of £5 on the night towards conservation costs.
The Ceremony of the Keys is the traditional locking up of the Tower of London and has taken place on each and every night, without fail, for at least 700 years. We have a very limited allocation of places so book early to secure your place. Please be there promptly at 21.30 as latecomers will not be admitted. This event is held entirely outside so please wrap up warm and weather-proof.

Crown of Blood with Nicola Tallis

Historian and researcher, Nicola Tallis will discuss the human and emotional story about Lady Jane Grey that has thus far been ignored, revealing a young woman who saw herself as a champion of Protestantism, and ultimately became a martyr for her faith. Come and hear the story of Queen Jane for the first time at this exclusive event for the launch of Crown of Blood, The Deadly Inheritance of Lady Jane Grey by Nicola Tallis.

New Member tours of the Tower of London

Price: FREE for new members (suitable for children of all ages)
If you have recently joined as a member but not yet had the chance to visit the Tower of London why not come along to one of the ‘New Member tours’? Each tour is taken by one of our iconic Yeoman Warders and really gives you an expert’s guide of what there is to see and do. The tours are free and although advertised to new members, if you have missed out on the Tower of London experience then please feel free to book onto one of these excellent tours.
Please meet outside the Welcome Centre at the Tower of London.

Member luncheons in the Perkin Reveller, hosted by Jascots Wine Merchant
Dates: 13 December and 17 March starting at 12 noon
Price: £45 for a three course lunch and accompanying wines.
These lunches are hosted by an expert from Jascots wine merchants to ensure the menu and the wines match perfectly. Come on your own or in a group to get to know more about food and wine pairing.

Member-only Carol Service at St Peter Ad Vincula
Dates: 16 and 17 Dec starting promptly at 18.30
Price: £10 for adults, £7.50 for children over 5 years old.
Following the re-opening of the Chapel Royal by Her Majesty the Queen in October 2014, we are delighted to be hosting the second member-only carol service at St Peter Ad Vincula. Join us for a service of lessons and carols sung by the Chapel choir and immerse yourself in Christmas tidings at the heart of the Tower of London. These dates will no doubt be extremely popular and the Chapel Royal has limited capacity. Booking is essential and the event is only open to Members of Historic Royal Palaces.

Members-only viewing of the Crown Jewels
Dates: 1 Feb, doors open at 18.30 for a 19.00 start
Price: £20 including refreshments
The Crown Jewels, part of the Royal Collection, are the most powerful symbols of the British Monarchy and hold deep religious and cultural significance in our nation’s history. Come and see the jewels away from the crowds and enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at a unique working collection of royal regalia, which is still used by The Queen in important national ceremonies, such as the annual State Opening of Parliament.

Elizabeth Fremantle discussing Tudor and Elizabethan women

Elizabeth Fremantle has written a number of novels about Tudor and Elizabethan women who were rule breakers. This talk will focus on these disobedient women, Katherine Parr, Lady Katherine Grey, Penelope Devereux, Arbella Stuart to name a few. Elizabeth will explore the unprecedented half-century of female rule through the prism of female disobedience, looking at the ways in which Elizabeth managed to retain her power and the effect of this on the women around her. This all makes fascinating subject matter for discussion. We hope that you agree and that we see you there.

White Tower tours

The White Tower is one of the most famous castle keeps in the world. It was built to awe, subdue and terrify Londoners and to deter foreign invaders. It’s an iconic symbol of London and Britain. This is your chance to see the Line of Kings and St John’s Chapel after hours with a White Tower guide. The tour will be followed by a drinks reception.

Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment rehearsals
We are delighted to be able to offer the following two Open Rehearsals to HRP members. They are very different programmes and fall in the first and second half of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment’s (OAE) season. Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Open Rehearsal: Christmas Oratorio Parts 1-3
Date: 9 Dec, 14.00-17.00
Price: Free, spaces are limited
Location: Cadogan Hall, 5 Sloane Terrace, London, SW1X 9DQ
This festive spectacular involves two big OAE firsts. It’s their first trip to gorgeous Cadogan Hall, and renowned Bach specialist Masaaki Suzuki’s debut with the Orchestra. Performed over two nights, this monumental retelling of the Christmas story is Baroque music at its finest and most ambitious. Come and join us at the final rehearsal of Christmas Oratorio Parts 1-3 which the Orchestra will be performing later the same evening.

Open Rehearsal: Faust and the Mozart Concertos

International star violinist Isabelle Faust wowed audiences in her “Look! No Conductor!” concert in 2012. She’s back for more with a double dose of Mozart at this concert. Isabelle also explores a Haydn symphony, La passione, with a lightness of touch and emotional depth that make for compelling listening. Come and join us for one of the final Open Rehearsals of the season at OAE residency: The Royal Festival Hall.
